University Heights Science Park
Science Park High School

An important part of the comprehensive Science Park Master Plan is the development of a new 800 student, $73 million science and technology high school to be located in close proximity to the Park.  The project is a cooperative effort between UHSP and The Newark Public Schools.  The new Science Park High School will be a technology enriched school that will prepare urban and minority students for career paths that require specialized knowledge and skills in math, science and technology.  The school will be divided into four "houses", each with a technology focus.  Its adjacency to Science Park will permit curricular relationships with the universities and mentor relationships with the Park's technology companies.  The school opened in the year 2006.

The goal is...to prepare Newark's urban and minority
youth for science and technology related careers, and
one day employ their skills in Science Park companies.
